Jean Jacques Brou
Jean Jacques Brou
Research Assistant
Work/professional background:
Jean Jacques Brou serves as a Research Assistant for the BRIDGE Africa Research Lab, supporting multiple components of the NIH-funded I-TEST Long-Acting Injectable (I-TEST LAI) project in Nigeria, which focuses on HIV prevention and treatment. He has completed several tasks involving scoping/literature reviews, manuscript development, qualitative coding and thematic analysis, survey instrument development for data collection, IRB development, and protocol refinement. Before joining the MPH program at GWU, Jean Jacques worked for the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication where he supported community outreach, mobilization, and knowledge management activities. He is currently in his final semester of the Master of Public Health in Global Health Epidemiology and Disease Control at The George Washington University's Milken Institute of Public Health.
Research interests:
Jean's research interests focus on HIV prevention and treatment, particularly improving access to HIV testing, PrEP, and long-acting injectable therapies among underserved and mobile populations. I am especially interested in understanding social and structural barriers to HIV prevention and care and developing community-informed interventions that promote equitable uptake, adherence, and sustained engagement in HIV services.
Projects worked on and currently working on in B.R.I.D.G.E:
Mr. Brou is currently working on the Innovative Tools to Expand HIV Self-Testing and Long-Acting Injectables for HIV Treatment and Prevention Among Commercial Minibus Drivers (I-TEST LAIs) project being implemented in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Favorite thing about doing and being involved in research:
Generating evidence and meaningfully translating it into practical solutions that improve people’s lives.
